Short version: ClaudiaFind searches your page locally in your browser. No browsing history, page content, or personal information ever leaves your device. The only data sent to our servers is what is strictly necessary to validate your Lifetime license.
1. What ClaudiaFind Does
ClaudiaFind is a Chrome browser extension that provides regex-powered find-on-page search. It highlights text matches on the current webpage and lets you navigate between them. All searching happens entirely within your browser — no page content is transmitted anywhere.
2. Data Stored Locally (on your device only)
ClaudiaFind stores the following data in your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local). This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us:
User preferences — default regex flags, max highlight count, theme (light/dark/auto), last search pattern and flags
Instance ID — a randomly generated UUID created on first use, used solely to identify your browser installation for license activation. It contains no personal information.
License JWT — a signed token issued by our license server after a successful activation. It is stored locally and verified offline on your device. It contains your instance ID and a one-way hash of your license key — never the raw license key itself.
3. Data Sent to Our Servers
ClaudiaFind communicates with our license server at api.vwapster.cloud only in the following cases:
License activation — when you enter a license key in the Settings page, your license key and instance ID are sent to our server to verify the key with LemonSqueezy (our payment processor) and issue a signed JWT. This happens once per device.
Periodic license re-validation — once every 7 days, the stored JWT is sent to our server to check that the license has not been revoked. If the server is unreachable (no internet connection), the extension continues to function normally.
We do not collect:
Browsing history or URLs of pages you visit
The text content of any webpage
Your search queries or regex patterns
Any personally identifiable information beyond what LemonSqueezy provides at purchase (email address associated with your license order)
4. Data Collected at Purchase
If you purchase a Lifetime license, your payment is processed by LemonSqueezy. We receive your email address and order details from LemonSqueezy for the purpose of fulfilling your license. This information is stored on our license server to manage license status (active/revoked). We do not sell, share, or use this information for any other purpose.
5. Third-Party Services
LemonSqueezy — payment processing and license key management. Their privacy policy applies to checkout transactions.
6. Permissions Explained
Read and change all your data on all websites (content scripts) — required so the search bar can appear on any webpage you visit. The extension only reads page text locally for matching; nothing is transmitted.
Storage — saves your preferences and license token locally on your device.
Manage your apps, extensions, and themes (scripting) — used to inject the search bar into tabs that were open before the extension was installed.
Alarms — schedules a background check every 7 days to keep your license status current.
Tabs (optional, Lifetime only) — requested only if you use the "Search All Tabs" feature. Allows the extension to query text across your open tabs. Never requested from free-tier users.
7. Data Retention
Local extension data (preferences, license token) is retained until you uninstall ClaudiaFind or clear extension storage. License records on our server are retained to manage your license status. You may request deletion of your license record by contacting us.
8. Children's Privacy
ClaudiaFind is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the extension evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
